From her I learned how wonderful it could feel to be fully heard...to have that moment of relief, that instant of being viewed and accepted for who you are. • Drug abuse And sometimes I think it is a habit, a coping strategy I heard several years ago. Yet other times, I think that it's a'calling'. Through nurture or nature I developed certain presents...that the gift of listening, of empathy, of non-judgement, of curiosity, of responsibility. So I feel as though I need to make use of these gifts...they are an expression of who I am. While you almost certainly know when your child has a cough or a fever, it is difficult to tell when they have a mental illness. So you may believe that they are having a bad day or just not at all a nice mood. However, these issues can become considerably worse with time and may result in serious difficulties later in life. And it's imperative you spot the signs early on and seek help. I hope these musings describe a little of what pushes us to perform what we do and possibly, too, will help you decide if you want to speak more with any of us about your personal journey of self-discovery.
